For more than 50 years, Haight Ashbury Cooperative Nursery School has been a beloved part of San Francisco, giving young children a magical first experience of school while helping parents build a foundation of involvement, connection, and community.
More than a preschool
HACNS has created an inclusive, nurturing community, lovingly cared for Grattan Playground, and offered music and drama programs enjoyed by neighborhood children well beyond our own enrollment.
An important new chapter
After nearly 40 years, our longtime director has retired. The school is transitioning to new leadership under an award-winning director with more than 16 years of co-op preschool experience.
This transition is an opportunity to build an even stronger future, but we need our community's help to make it possible. We need funds to bridge a short period of enrollment decline as the community ages in and gets to know Michele.
