Family Responsibilities
Family Responsibilities
As a parent-run cooperative, the school is built and staffed by its families. Here is what that actually asks of you.

Work shift options
- Morning shift
- 8:15 am to 12:15 pm
- Afternoon shift
- 11:45 am to 3:45 pm
Your shift is the same day of the week, every week. Families with more than one child enrolled work 1.5 times the standard requirement, not double.
Participation Requirements
A parent or close relative works one shift a week, on the same day every week. The two shift options are listed below.
If you have multiple children enrolled, the participation requirement is 1.5 times the standard, not double.
Once a month you will also bring snacks for the children and working parents, and lead a project with the children. Projects are meant to be fun and easy, and there are always plenty of supplies in the crafts storage area.

Monthly Meetings
One parent per family attends a monthly membership meeting, held in the evenings. There are also several parent education events throughout the year that are mandatory.
We meet at a family's house, discuss topics about running the school, hear a report from our director, and share food together. The monthly meetings are a good way to stay connected to all the families and build community.
School Job
Each family is responsible for performing a job throughout the year. Jobs include the school offices, such as president, vice president, treasurer, and secretary, as well as support functions like purchasing, alumni relations, and maintenance day coordination.

School Maintenance
Each family attends three four-hour maintenance days per school year, focused on upkeep of the school facility. They are typically held every other month on a Saturday morning.
Fundraising
Each family participates in several mandatory fundraising events throughout the year. These support the school's operations and fund scholarships, music, and other enrichment programs. Additional fundraising activities include event support, raffle ticket sales, and soliciting donations.
